Fused Glass Topped Compacts and Pill Boxes

A fabulous collaboration of unique gifts, jewelry, functional art and time pieces
made by Myra Anson Nicholas and P.J. Sweeney

Each glass top is hand made, so colors will vary.

All are heavily gold plated. Inside are two mirrors - a magnifying mirror facing a standard mirror. A hand fashioned fused glass disc embellishes the top of each portable piece of art. Several types of art glasses are carefully chosen, hand cut and arranged. The pieces are then placed in a kiln and heated to 1600 F. After slowly cooling so the glasses can anneal properly, they are finished and adhered to the individual compacts. The color choices run the full gamut from reds, yellows, beiges, blues and greens; dramatically patterned, softly patterned and textured. See more at PJ's site, www.pjewelry.com/compacts.html. These "objectd'art" are individually created. The fused glass discs are carefully selected, cut and arranged by the artist. They are then placed in a kiln and heated to approximately 1600 F. After slow and careful cooling (or annealing) the glass is permanently adhered to the heavily gold plated pill box, then placed in its own "velvet" pouch.
