Mixed Media Necklaces ...and we mean MIXED!
A fabulous collaboration of unique gifts, jewelry, functional art and time pieces
made by Myra Anson Nicholas and P.J. Sweeney
Combining digital imaging with traditional hand-fashioned
jewelry and
new materials in a contemporary collage effect to create truly
innovative multi-media wearable art pieces.
Wild and wacky, these one-of-a-species necklaces use everything from brass and copper wire, glass and stone beads to
cast plastic resin and galvanized steel.
Custom orders in a variety of designs and color combinations available, and
we'll try to emulate certain styles you see here upon request, but a handful of adjectives does better than a list of
ingredients. The plastic resin is cast with designs matching the background graphic.
MUTLI-DIMENSIONAL NECKLACES:
Each is a one-of-a-kind piece, the first two to three
inches are either beaded or hooked to decorative and
unusual necklace
chain ending in a lobster-style clasp. The piece is then detailed
to create an unforgettable
piece of art.
The base for these necklaces depend on the size, weight and
shape desired. Everything from cd's cut into
wedges to wood shapes and hardware cloth. Different finishes are
used on these multi-dimensional
pieces, a glossy laminated, matte, and a pearlized luster finish.
WOVEN NECKLACES: The strips of abstract art
are
original
creations by Myra Anson
Nicholas, using Adobe Photoshop and various filters. The digital
paintings are output on a digital press, then laminated and woven into
hardware cloth. The pieces are then finished with glass beads, polyester
resin-cast cabachons and wrapped wire.
Retail pricing: $38 to $60
Custom orders accepted.
EARRINGS: Pendant earrings to complement the piece are
available.
Surgical steel and hypo-allergenic nylon posts are used.
The designs used in making these pieces are
original art by Myra Anson
Nicholas, created using Adobe Photoshop. This digital painting is
output, laminated or finished with luster sprays, mounted on wood or woven on steel grids then
embellished with glass and stone beads, wrapped wire and resin-cast domes.
Necklace chains are interrupted with beaded accents or exotic plaques.
